Market Recap For December 12th, 2022

In somewhat of a surprise, markets were green all day yesterday, and even ended up with a very good day overall.

Again, a little surprising that traders and investors would want to load up going into the always volatile CPI numbers. A possible market “rug pull” coming?

Yesterday’s Sector Performance

Energy woke up yesterday, leading the way for the rest of the market.

Discretionary and Services stocks lagged, but still ended up positive on the day.

Five-Day Sector Performance

Utilities is still the clear leader over the past trading week.

Energy and Service are neck-and-neck at the bottom.

ETF Trade Watch

Utilities Select Sector SPDR (XLU)

Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE)

The top performing sector is still Utilities, which keeps the XLU on the radar for those looking at bullish plays.

Energy’s bounce was definitely due, so the current rally may seem some decent follow through. If so, the XLE is always a good choice to look at.

Good luck!
