Market Recap For December 14th, 2021
Sure enough, stocks dropped right at the open yesterday, as forecast. However, the market found its low later in the morning and moved modestly higher from there.
Tuesday’s price action is hard to make much of. Hopefully, today’s trading will shed some light on the next market move.
Yesterday’s Sector Performance
Financials was the only sector to finish in the green.
Technology ended up at the rear on Tuesday.
Five-Day Sector Performance
Consumer Staples have been the leader over the past 5 days.
Consumer Discretionary is, and has been, at the bottom of the trailing week.
ETF Trade Watch
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF)
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP)
The main indices failed to move far off their respective opens, which hints at a sort of indecision. The FOMC statement should remove the barrier of the next move.
If it moves higher, which seems slightly more probable, the Consumer Staples XLP and the Financials XLF may lead further.
Good luck!
